8 people all SaaS marketers need to follow.

If you’re looking to build a broader network of people to learn from, these are some of the less obvious heroes of the SaaS revenue space that are well worth a follow.
OK so, there are a bunch of people from Aaron Ross to Paul Graham, and Marc Benioff who everyone in the B2B SaaS space knows and follows. But there are a bunch of other people who I’ve learned masses from over the years and are well worth a follow. Hopefully this is some help if you’re looking to find a broader network of people to learn from.

Sales Development - Sam Nelson

Sam’s an SDR Leader at Outreach (usually my preferred sales development team software) and is almost always my first port of call if I’m trying to solve a sales development problem. He’s made a bunch of brilliant resources available through his LinkedIn profile here. Like Dave Gerhardt, below, he’s also a case study in how building a personal brand will benefit your company.

April’s book “Obviously Awesome” is an absolute must-read for marketers, CEOs, and product managers who are trying to find their place in the market. April offers a bunch of helpful positioning templates on her website too.

Revenue Team Alignment - Mark Roberge

Mark’s maybe a bit too much of an obvious candidate for this list but his book, “The Sales Acceleration Formula” (a must read for all B2B SaaS revenue leaders) has made a huge difference to the companies I work with and I couldn’t leave him off.  If you want a quick overview before you read the whole book, this talk is well worth a watch.

SaaS Content Strategy - Dev Basu

Dev’s the founder of B2B SaaS marketing agency “Powered by Search”. The content that Dev and his team produce on content strategy is second to none if you’re in the B2B SaaS space. Plus he’s just a genuinely lovely guy.

Brand building - Dave Gerhardt

Prior to his current role as CMO at Privy, Dave was VP of marketing at Drift (and the Drift website is, itself, a lesson in copywriting). Dave shares super helpful content on brand building and copywriting but if you’re trying to figure out how to get your team to build their personal brands online too, just watch and learn. Oh and Dave’s Patreon channel is the best $10 / month you’ll spend as a marketer.

SEO - Hannah Rampson

At an early stage SaaS business, every marketer’ has to wear lots of hats, including SEO. Hannah’s made this list because not only does she know her stuff, but she’s made a whole bunch of dashboards that make it easy for anyone to get useful insights out of Google Search Console data, fast. They’re available to download here.

How to run a business right - Wil Reynolds

Wil runs digital marketing agency Seer. Yes, he knows stuff about marketing (and search in particular) but he’s worth a follow because the way he runs Seer is an example to all. Honesty about the journey, respect, and support for his team shine through consistently.

Katelyn is an absolute hero when it comes to customer discovery sharing no-nonsense approaches to focus on the right projects, for the right customers. Also, her website should be an inspiration to anyone writing conversion copy.
